I was lucky to be stationed in Hawaii when I joined the Air Force. I think back to my service with fond memories of serving alongside a group of women I still keep in touch with. I was a woman in the military, outnumbered by men 5:1. My memories are fond due to meeting my husband in Hawaii (he was in the Marines) , and the friendships I created with a group of ladies from all over the country. This piece "Femme Nostalgia" is in memory of my service in Hawaii and the women I served with. I started painting this new camoflauge style with this piece in 2020.
